E-Fuel

In addition to the expansion of renewables, the future system for supplying energy and raw materials will need to store large volumes of energy for the shorter and longer term and transport it across great distances.

Synthetic liquid fuels obtained from biogenic CO2 or recycled carbon and hydrogen produced using renewable electricity are chemical long-term energy storage systems with a very high-power density which can be used in multiple sectors.

The synthetic fuels are also free of sulphur, nitrogen and aromatics, they can also be used to reduce, or entirely avoid, the emission of hazardous substances such as SOx, NOx and soot during combustion in motors and engines. Synthetic fuels are particularly suitable for achieving a relatively fast reduction of emissions in large parts of long-distance and goods traffic (heavy goods, air transport, maritime transport), for which direct electrification is not feasible on technical or economic grounds.

Electrification

We are specialised in the development of hybrid technology, bridging the gap between traditional ICE and full electrification. FC SOLUTIONS can design, develop and manufacture transmissions for hybrid and electric, as well as engine design, calibration and optimisation for hybrid applications. Our vehicle model and drive cycle simulation tool provides a flexible platform to modify powertrain components and create efficient, integrated and optimised powertrain solutions that match your request and performance.

Hydrogen ICE

With high energy requirements and constraints of payload and package, heavy-duty, long-haul truck and off-highway applications pose a particular challenge for electrification using conventional battery-based approaches. For such applications, hydrogen – either as a combustion engine fuel or for use in a fuel cell hybrid powertrain – offers the potential of significantly reducing or eliminating emissions at point of use.

FC SOLUTIONS can perform structural and CFD simulation regarding H2 ICE. We can support a complete engine design, material choice and surface treatments. We also extend our capability to larger engines for marine, rail and industrial power sectors, and work with niche sectors requiring  bespoke solutions.

FC Solutions

FC SOLUTIONS engineers, cover a wide range of services. We support the entire design stage, with all simulations necessary to achieve the best solution.
